INTRODUCTION

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), as we know, is the ability of equipment and systems to function as designed in their intended operational environment without adversely disturbing or being affected by other equipment or systems. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) has become a topic of serious concern for manufacturers and users of electronic products in the Global Market. Design of an electronic equipment to comply with National/International EMC Standards calls for controlling the emissions from equipment and improving its immunity to external EMI. Undesired emissions may originate from equipment at the component, PCB and enclosure levels. Keeping in mind the EMC testing needs of the industry in the western region of the country, SAMEER took initiative to set up EMI/EMC Test Facilities at their Navi Mumbai Campus. 

    EMC centre, a part of EMI/EMC Division, SAMEER – Mumbai, is located at Navi Mumbai campus, approx. 30 kms away from head office at Powai. The centre was established in the year 2005 for catering to the EMC testing needs of the industry. The division comprises of experienced team of scientists and engineers working in the area of EMI/EMC having vast experience on Space and Defense systems requiring EM compliance. Challenges of suggesting cost effective solutions for meeting EM standard for its compliance are also taken up by the division by way of  providing consultancy services. The team also provides testing services for large installations and rolling equipment like suburban (Mono / Metro) and mainline trains. 

    The Division follows Quality Management System and it is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Standardization and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017. This helps laboratory in keeping abreast with the latest developments in technology and standards. It in-turn assists us in rendering quality services to the manufacturers to meet regulatory requirements for product reliability to their satisfaction. 

    The division provides the following  test and calibration services

    EMI/EMC tests  

    • Accredited EMI/EMC measurement services at permanent location (in-house) as well as installation sites for compliance to EMC standards (as per Civilian and Military standards).
    • Design consultancy services for compliance to EMI/EMC standards
    • RF noise measurement (survey), RF mapping of large structures, Radiated emission measurements for large installations
    • Measurement of Shielding Effectiveness (S.E.) required for validation of shielded enclosures
    • Radiated emission measurement of moving objects like Mono, Metro and mainline trains (railways). The group has rendered their services for radiated emission measurement of trains to various establishments like Mumbai Mono rail and suburban trains as per EN & IEC standards (IEC 50121-3-1, IEC 50121-3-2, IEC 50121-2).
